hmmm... J.D. had infrequent diaper rash until recently. I had noticed the new diapers (and don't particularly like them as much as they don't seem to fit as well and the "thinner profile" is actually a negative as I kinda relied on the padded diaper bottom to hold up his pants/shorts). But in mid-April, around the time we ran out of the "old" Pampers and started using these full-time, he started having recurring rashes. I actually use both cloth and disposable, but the diaper cream for the rash can affect the absorbency of the cloth so he's been in disposable full-time for weeks now while we've been treating the rash. I was just thinking we should try using more cloth again soon; I'm tempted to do a wholesale switch for about 10 days to see if his rash clears up and stays gone. Of note, we added Lotrimin to his diaper cream regimen and that helped it clear up faster. A family friend who's a pedi suggested this and it did help; it just didn't stay gone.

In regards to Pampers response, I too think they've created an adversarial position that will be hard to defend if some vocal moms band together and start a grassroots movement. I honestly hadn't heard about the connection before this post, and when I saw you had become a fan of that group on FB, I thought it was just a fit thing, as that was my main issue.

And on a really minor note, I don't like the full-size character on the back. I liked better differentiation from front/back so that I could quickly get it positioned properly. Now about one third of the time I realize when I start to fasten that I have the diaper backwards. I'm only *just* starting to remember to check the character more carefully (in his size, it's Cookie Monster on the back, a rotating cast on the front, with more of a "head shot").

Oh my, it just makes me very glad we are out of diapers. My first response would have been to switch diaper brands immediately, then to try the Pampers one more time after the bottom healed...Certainly the tone of Pampers was not gentle enough and most moms I know (including me) are interested in much more than..."they are safe". We want to know the proactive actions of the company.

First of all I am so sorry to hear about your friend, Ana. Unfortunately, I experienced a similar situation last year and, at first, was upset that I found out by being invited to a Facebook group to remember the life of this friend. However, I completely agree with you and I've learned to embrace this aspect of social media as it's recently kept me in the loop about the birth of my (distant) cousin and other happy occasions as well. Thanks for the post -- very interesting.

Unfortunately to most Americans climate change is considered a "luxury crisis."

With two wars, a weak economy plus the latest terrorist attempt on US soil, Americans don't have the energy to focus on climate change with such zeal and intensity as let's say, looking for a job. Personally I think it is foolhardy. I do think most Americans are concerned about climate change, but right now they are looking to stabilize their own lives -- and climate change is not a part of that immediate equat
