Proposed Itinerary: About the Stopovers

The choices of stopovers and activities along the route is influenced by time available, budget and style of travel preference. In our case, the trip time will be 6 weeks total, we have a fair budget, and we enjoy primitive camping and backcountry adventure. Following is a list of resources we used to plan, organized by segment (click thru the Day links to access the planning assets and notes for each segment). And fyi, this is not an exhaustive resource list, but simply the resources we used to research and plan our camping/adventure oriented trip down Route 66 and beyond. Our notes will be most helpful to those who enjoy that style of travel… (For more exhaustive Route 66 resources, visit Route 66 News, Historic Route 66, Legends of America Route 66….)
